Janéza Private Cellar is near
Bonnievale overlooking the Breede River Valley. Flanked by the Langeberg
Mountain Range in the north-east, and the Riviersonderend mountains in the
south-west, Bonnievale is one of the most beautifully situated towns in the
Western Cape. The town is approximately 180 km from Cape Town and 100 km
from the southernmost tip of Africa at Cape Agulhas. Known as the valley of
wine and cheese, the Robertson Wine Route, which includes all the wine
cellars in the Bonnievale area, has in recent years won great acclaim in
South Africa and around the world, for the production of outstanding wines.
Family history runs deep in this 18 hectare vineyard just outside Bonnievale,
which Jan’s father purchased in 1973. The Janéza Wines are made in an old
building dating back to the 1930’s which in earlier years served as stables
and ox pens. Jan and Eza restored the building and equipped it as a small
wine cellar. The wine is made according to traditional methods thus given as
much personal attention as possible. The grapes are grown only on the best
chosen terroir.
Wines are made from various grapes – Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Cabernet
Sauvignon, Shiraz, Merlot and Petit Verdot.
The name Janeza is a blend of their names, Jan and Eza who both grew up in
this beautiful wine valley. Come and enjoy the rustic atmosphere, great
wines, passion and dedication.
Two of the stables have been restored as a cobblestoned tasting room which
is open on appointment from:

Cheeseplatters, picnic and small functions on prior arrangement
