Dive Charters The Cape Peninsula is a sliver of Table Mountain sandstone resting on a granite plate, most of which is submerged. This means that the coastlines immediate underwater topography is dominated by boulder-strewn reefs and pinnacles, offering divers a labyrinth of tunnels, swim-throughs, caverns and caves to explore. Most of these formations are encrusted with colourful and diverse marine life. To all this, the cruel storms which gave the Cape its early name have added a veritable graveyard of ships - both centuries-old and modern - all lying at easily accessible depths.
Some of our most well-known dive sites include Justin's Cave, the 1909 wreck of the Moari, Coral Gardens, Vulcan Rock, Smitswinkel Bay Wrecks, Partridge Point and Castle Rocks to name but a few.
During the winter months, False Bay is sheltered and offers little more than a surface chop. The relatively warm water of the southwest flowing Agulhas current feeds this coast and water temperatures vary between 12 and 18 degrees Celsius. This might not be ideal for beachgoers, but it's pure bliss for well-equipped divers. What this means, of course, is that you can dive the Cape Peninsula all year round !
